RCFE

An RFCE is a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly, also known as a Board and Care Home. They are licensed by the Department of Social Services and can accommodate from 6 to as many as 30 residents.  It is a Non-medical facility that offers non-medical or custodial care that Assist seniors with ADLs (activities of daily living). Services include Keeping the elderly safe and assistance with medication management, Bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and incontinence care.

RCFE’S can also accommodate seniors with special dietary restrictions such as low sodium, low sugar, pureed and mechanically soft foods. These homes also have hospice, bed bound and total care waivers. Many are able to care for different levels of dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s patients and more. These homes are private pay unless the patient has long-term care insurance that covers the RCFE.

Assisted Living

Assisted Living Communities are a licensed care facility that assists seniors who require various levels of care in a larger community setting. The basic services include monthly apartment rent, meals, transportation services, full schedule of activities, housekeeping and laundry. All of the basic services mentioned above are included with the monthly rent. These communities vary with their care levels and are based on an assessment of the potential resident to determine the level of care.

Some communities differ in their level of care such as transfers and diabetes management. These communities also require a one-time community fee upon move in. Some communities also include memory care for those that are memory impaired.

Assisted Living Communities are great for those who enjoy a social environment as well as those who enjoy their privacy in a supportive environment.

Memory Care

Seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia diagnoses can rest assured that they will be safe in Memory Care Community. These specially designed Communities are secured and licensed and offer living assistance that helps residents manages the daily challenges of memory loss. These communities also manage various levels of care. They handle ADLs., medication management and some have nurses on board. These facilities have 24-hour staff and patients can wander safely through their living environment. They also provide a full schedule of activities.

Independent Living

Independent living Communities include senior apartments and Room and Board. These Communities are appropriate for residents who need little or no assistance with activities of daily living. They include monthly apartment rent, meals, transportation services, housekeeping and laundry. Some offer activities as well as a one-time community fee.

In Home Care

For seniors who would benefit from remaining in the comfort of their own home, they can receive services that include housekeeping, errands, cooking, personal care and health care. Caregivers can provide personalized living assistance on an hourly basis to 24/7 care.
